PCOS and Fertility: What to Know

PCOS is common, manageable, and does not mean IVF is inevitable.

Updated July 13, 2026 · 6 min read

PCOS is a spectrum

No two PCOS patients look the same. Symptoms, hormones, and metabolic patterns vary widely. Your plan should reflect your specific situation.

When trying to conceive

Depending on your situation, first steps often include lifestyle changes and medications that support ovulation. IUI or IVF is considered when they are the right fit, not by default.

Long-term health

PCOS is also a long-term health condition. Insulin metabolism, cardiovascular risk, and mental health are part of ongoing care — not only when trying to conceive.
